Ramadan 2026: Dubai Police mobile cannon begins iftar tour from Zabeel Park and Hatta
Al Rahal to visit 17 locations across the city during the holy month
DUBAI – Dubai Police’s famed “Mobile Cannon”, known as Al Rahal, has begun its Ramadan journey across the emirate, marking the start of one of the UAE’s most cherished traditions.
On the first and second days of the holy month, 18 and 19 February, the cannon was stationed at Zabeel Park, drawing residents and visitors eager to experience the time-honoured iftar moment. The initiative continues on the third and fourth days, 20 and 21 February, at Umm Suqeim Majlis.
In Hatta, the mobile cannon began its three-day schedule from 1 to 3 Ramadan, starting at Hatta Fort Roundabout, bringing the traditional firing ceremony closer to communities in the mountainous region.
17 locations
Throughout Ramadan, Al Rahal will visit 17 locations across Dubai. After Zabeel Park and Umm Suqeim Majlis, the cannon proceeds to JBR, Bab Al Shams Hotel, Al Meydan Hotel, Global Village and Atlantis Hotel. It will then move to Nad Al Sheba Majlis, the Margham area, Burj Khalifa and the Lehbab area.
The tour continues to Al Khawaneej Majlis, Marsa Boulevard, Al Warqa area, Vida Creek Harbour and concludes at Al Barsha Park, ensuring that communities across the emirate share in the Ramadan atmosphere.
Dubai Police has consistently placed special emphasis on the iftar cannon, describing it as a revival of cherished Arab and Islamic customs deeply rooted in UAE society.
Fixed cannons
In addition to the travelling unit, six cannons will remain stationed at key sites throughout the holy month. These locations are JBR, Burj Khalifa, Damac Hills, Expo City Dubai at Al Wasl Plaza, Dubai Festival City and Vida Creek Harbour Hotel.
The daily firing of the cannons signals the end of fasting at sunset, a tradition that continues to unite families and visitors in shared celebration.
Edge of Life
This year, the annual Dubai Police Iftar Cannon is also aligned with the “Edge of Life” campaign launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. The campaign aims to raise at least Dh1 billion to help rescue five million children from hunger worldwide.
During daily live broadcasts on Dubai TV and Sama Dubai TV, the Iftar Cannon segment will announce the name of one contributor donating Dh1 million or more, encouraging wider participation from individuals and institutions.
Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, said the initiative reflects the UAE’s deeply rooted culture of generosity and humanitarian outreach. He noted that the campaign underscores the nation’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities, particularly in regions affected by conflict and natural disasters.
Statistics cited by organisers show that five children under the age of five die every minute globally due to malnutrition and hunger, highlighting the urgency behind the campaign’s fundraising efforts during the holy month.
